About

c quesada (they/them/ellx) was raised in unceded Yokuts territory (Huron, California), and has ancestral roots from Guanajuato and Zacatecas, MĂ©xico. C is a community-taught artist, educator, and learner. While studying traditional photography at West Hills Community College and working as a garlic peeler at a warehouse in Coalinga, CA, c was influenced by the work of Gloria AnzaldĂșa, Graciela Iturbide, and Central Valley photographers. While living in Los Angeles and teaching sociology to Central Valley students, they began experimenting with nontoxic and domestic photographic methods, using the bathtub as a darkroom. Through experimental photography, c focuses on the everyday experiences of rural communities in the California Central Valley (unceded Yokuts territory) amid consistent and unequal exposure to environmental pollution.

Currently, they teach in the sociology department at College of the Sequoias, a community college in Central California.
